Whitehall Healthcare Novi Worker Charged With Patient Abuse

Channel 7 News has reported that an employee of Whitehall Healthcare Center in Novi, Michigan, has  confessed to abusing a patient.  The worker, William Hill has been charged with two counts of Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult. If convicted, the twenty-eight year old Hill,  faces 2 years in prison.

The victim, Thomas Johns, received significant deep purple bruises on his chest, chin, back, and torso. Other employees at the nursing home witnessed Hill sit on the chest of the victim and punch him multiple times. According to reports, Johns, who has dementia, was only in the nursing home for six days before the attack occurred on March 11, 2015.

The Whitehall Healthcare Center is owned by Consulate Health Care in Orlando, Florida. The company owns and operates several nursing homes throughout the United States, including ten in Michigan.  In 2013, Whitehall was fined $14,700 for multiple incidents. One included the death of a patient who failed to receive CPR from the staff.
